Perhaps Chopra felt that it was going to get in the way of what he personally wanted to teach and monetize. Chopra does not seem to stay "between the lines" of the Holy Tradition. I do not know how Tony wound up in that position. He sounds and reads like the Cliff's Notes version of the Vedas. It seems certain that there are others whose understanding and cognition of the Vedas is better understood.
Perhaps asking Dr. John H would be a good source for that answer.
