I don't know why they picture him in a happy state of obesity, when we need the exact opposite in a world plagued by obesity and sedentary life.

Solution? Let the Buddha ride a bike...

"Yin & Yang," what an important concept. You need the bike (Yang) to get the energy flowing and then you need the hammock (Yin).

"He was fat. with big fat head and big fat tummy. He was NOT an example to follow."

He could be a good advertisement for McDonald's and the American way of life.

This is the Buddha I got at home...

As you can see this one can inspire the future. Don't let kids go to McDonald's.

BUDDHA'S CONTRIBUTION TO SAVE US FROM THE RAT RACE
Hey. I stopped by again to see if you had gotten over talking to yourself,
only to find that you have gotten worse.
You are a very unruly student who I do not wish to teach.

Teach who? Hey, I'm teaching you my wisdom for free. I bet you never felt that good about not being part of the rat race.

Where else can you learn this stuff? Buddha never mentioned this either. But you can sure make educated guesses:

'Before we become too smug and divide the human race into "us" Buddhists and "them", the rest, let me hasten to remind ourselves that all of us have been guilty of joining the same rat race and those who call themselves "Buddhists" have just as happily trod the "primrose path" of sensuality, materialism and greed like almost everyone else in the 20th Century. What I will proceed to discuss in the rest of this essay is how the Sublime Teachings of the Buddha, if rightly understood and correctly followed by everyone can save the human race from ultimate disaster.'

Luckily, though, the elderly will be dead before seeing such disaster. Only those who care about the future worry about it. And the young, of course, will inherit this rat race to nowhere.

He's our last hope...

You know too much to have anything to teach.
I know better than the Three Wise Monkeys, that's all.
How do you know what any Buddha might have not mentioned?
Oh c'mon, he would oppose the rat race and thus the new Chinese concept of "progress." Same thing about Jesus and America.

The opposite of SEE NO EVIL, HEAR NO EVIL, SPEAK NO EVIL is MAKE NOISE. That's the underlying principle of DEMOCRACY and FREEDOM.

(Not a bad contribution before I head to the beach. On second thought I may go bike riding into the urban jungle)
